Muskegon's charter captains, first mates and recreational fishermen — one association, built around Lake Michigan salmon fishing.

Members run the boats out of Muskegon Harbor, White Lake and Grand Haven. The association keeps them trained and compliant with the state and federal requirements behind a professional, safe day on the water, connects them to one another, and puts on the events. Bookings are made with the boats — start with the roster.

Member boats and crews

Member charter boats listed by name and home port, plus individual captains and first mates available for hire. Anglers use the roster to find a local Lake Michigan salmon charter; the association itself does not take reservations.

Training and compliance

Members have the ability to access current CPR/First Aid training as well as enrollment in a USCG compliant drug screening program — the state and federal requirements behind a professional, safe and fun day on the water.

About the association

Events

The association presents the Armed Forces Salmon Assault, sponsors the Muskegon Pro-Am tournament, and runs its own in-house Battle for the Strap through the fishing season.

Battle for the Strap

“Battle for the Strap” is a member based bragging rights competition for largest fish caught during the season. The winner gets to carry the “Strap” on their boat for the next year. The winner gets their name engraved in it every year.
